Appologies to Mikazu who pointed this out, but I didn't think everyone would see it buried down in the levels > aa thread.
Nodyin announced changes to AA ![]() The short version. They've determine what they believe is a basic amount of AA that is now considered a baseline for people to have. Instead of address the fact that AA costs are getting unreasonable for the benefit, they've instead decided to incentivize people who don't have a minimal level of AA. These people will receive a bonus AA multiplier until they reach whatever number of AA SOE has deemed enough. It's a multiple point system, so benefits fall off as you get closer to the baseline. No one is penalized for having too many AA, they just don't receive any bonus multiplier. Timeline for this change is the next couple patches. Presumably, SK will still be told to go fuck themselves on changes to spears, unholy aura, DoT, and plant bane.

Fucking awesome is what it is. I hope the bonus range is around 750 AA before it normalizes, with a big jump up to 500 or so. 500 AA would give most classes the core of what they need to not be a group leech bitch. 750 AA would give most 'required' AA.
This might motivate people to make alts / convince people to play EQ. I think it's a great game, but I honestly have never recommended it to a friend to play for the past couple of years. The gap between start up and average is wider then a paladins asshole. But if it's possible to level AND get an acceptable level of AA without turning into an EQ hermit, then fucking sweet is all I can say. |

i have to agree i don't see a downside to this - it's a big shiny for new players, and a nice way for us vets to plevel an alt and have fun in our off time.
i think this is the right move for a game as old as EQ - there has to be some way of allowing portions of the population to catch up to the other portions, when you have a (nearly) non-capped progression system and a tier based difficulty curve.

Although, 750 is absurd amount. I definitely agree with the concept and it was mentioned by myself and some others on these boards that a change was surely needed to keep new and returning players in the loop. The gap I feel is greatest for the tanks, since with the def aa's your simply screwed. I can't say I know much about the other classes, since I got a cleric alt, but they seem to function effectively without a zillion aa's.
One of the rare moves I agree with SOE. Well met! |

And give us Humanoids version of Holy Forge Thank you, For people who topped number of AAs for modifier should be rewarded with a stack of exp potion or something. They worked hard thru all this year and they are the ones keeping SoE in businesses. It's somewhat wrong for these people to be left out... |

Its a good change and one that is much needed.
I dunno about guilds on other servers -- However, my guild has been getting some apps these days with less than stellar AA counts and this may help remedy that a bit. And also, yeah -- This will help us vets who have an alt and gives us something to do in off hours as far as it being easier to AA XP them. I know my Monkey alt is happy now ~ |
