just started playing again after years and years (last played during Luclin) I started an SK to play with my buddy who is dual boxing his Mage and a Sham. At what level should I do the epic quest with him helping. Also He'll be using a cleric merc and I'll have a tank.

I used a tank merc as well until 75, they do a much better job of tanking than a newb SK in defiant gear with very few AAs. Considering he said they just started playing, i'm sure that situation applies to him as well.

Would still make a hell of a lot more sense for the healer to have a tank merc and a tank to have a healer merc than the other way around.

Yay me or so I thought.
I handed in the 4 items to the guy in COM then slaughtered him and received Lhrancs token. Looks like a big copper piece or that old plus 20 charisma token. I hand it in to Marl Kastane and he tells me I have no need for this Splatter. you can have it back. Tried it invis. Tried it while hiding. Shoot me.

Ok I am a total tool. I went all the way back to Toxx for that guy and not the one that spawns right in COM. Went back a lil while later after I rea;lized my error and the guy either despawned or is now dead. Yay.

OK am I screwed here? There is a 3 day respawn. I went back today but Someone in the zone had already killed lhranc. However he said that a human ( Kastane ) didnt spawn. I was hoping I could find the ghost up and kill him to pop Kastane for the turn in and receive the 1.0. If what the guy is tellin me is true and killing Lhranc doesnt spawn Kastane then that means i need to have the 4 items again for turn in, essentially redoing the whole quest.
Im hoping thats not the case.

Found Lhranc up just now in Com and killed him. Kastane of course did not pop. Does this mean I start everything all over? Anyone reading this?
Input would be appreciated.

Oh I have been reading your lil diary and to be honest I have not said anything because well its been WAY too many years for me to remember it all. Hopefully someone who has done it more recently will chime in soon. Did ya go through Allakazam write up on it with a fine tooth, and do it the way they said to? If not ya my try Petition.

You have a few options.
Get the turn in items again for Lhranc and turn them in and kill him again; complete quest as normal. Petition saying that it's bugged/guy didn't spawn and ask if they can spawn the correct Marl for you. Wait until another SK is at the same stage, help kill his lhranc and turn the coin in to Marl after the other guy - then hope that it works. Probably your best bet is to petition though.
